Albano Malerba

Biography

Albano, currently pursuing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Liège, embarked on his doctoral studies in January 2023 following the completion of his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Biomechanics and Biomaterials, at Politecnico di Milano. During his master's program, he conducted research at the Mechanics of Biological and Bioinspired Materials Laboratory (MBBM) at the University of Liège, focusing on utilizing Finite Element Modeling to analyze the mechanical properties of the tendon-to-bone enthesis with a particular emphasis on anisotropy.

Supported by the EOS project, Albano's PhD research focuses on biomechanical analyses of the cartilage-to-bone interface in mice, employing both experimental and computational approaches. His work aims to compare the effects of Post Traumatic Osteoarthritis (PTOA) with healthy conditions at various developmental stages. For more information about his project, please refer HERE.
