Lena Demeuldre
Biography
Lena is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Liège, which she began in October 2024. She completed her master’s degree in biomedical engineering in the same institution earlier that year.
For her master’s thesis, Lena collaborated with Cerhum, a company specialized in 3D printed patient-specific porous hydroxyapatite implants for maxillofacial applications. Her research focused on the mechanical characterization of these implants, starting with the design and 3D printing of porous hydroxyapatite parts using VAT polymerization. She then conducted mechanical testing with the MTS Criterion Electromechanical Universal Test Systems at the MBBM lab. For her work, she received the Best Master Thesis in Biomedical Engineering award from the company Trasis.
In October 2024, Lena obtained a FRIA grant to pursue her PhD on the impact of aging on bone.
